Statistics use one value per venue (the median if a venue lists several contracts), skip closed markets, GMX (pool-skew funding with a separate borrowing fee) and LeverUp markets routed to Hyperliquid (they would double count Hyperliquid). Every row is still shown in the table below.
XRP funding rates by venue
Every XRP market in the latest snapshot, highest 8h rate first. Rate per interval is the amount paid at each settlement; 1h, 8h and APR are normalised so venues with different intervals compare directly. See the Hyperliquid funding rates page for core and HIP-3 markets.

What does XRP funding cost?
Worked example for a $10,000 long held for 1 day and 7 days, using each rate from the table above as if it stayed constant (it will not). Funding is charged on notional, not margin.
| Scenario | 8h rate | 1 day | 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Median (9 venues) | 0.0015% | $0.45 paid | $3.12 paid |
| Highest: edgeX | 0.0100% | $3.00 paid | $21.00 paid |
| Lowest: Bybit | -0.0016% | $0.49 received | $3.42 received |
Cross-venue spread idea
In principle a trader could go long where funding is lowest (Bybit) and short where it is highest (edgeX) and collect the difference. At the current rates, $10,000 on each side would be a net $3.49 received per day before costs.
Caveat: this is an illustration, not advice. Real results depend on trading fees, price basis between the two contracts, different settlement intervals (a rate can change before you are paid), margin on both venues, liquidation risk on either leg, and funding changing sign. The funding rate arbitrage scanner ranks these gaps across every asset and explains the risks.

What drives XRP funding rates
XRP has one of the most active retail communities in crypto, and perp positioning reflects that: long stretches of quiet funding near the baseline are punctuated by sharp, headline-driven bursts. Regulatory and legal developments, product announcements and broader altcoin rotations have historically produced rapid one-sided positioning, with funding rising as longs crowd in or flipping negative when traders rush to short a fade.
XRP perps are priced against a spot market that is deep on a handful of large exchanges, and the contract usually trades close to spot. Basis traders can and do run carry on XRP, but the pool of capital doing so is smaller than for Bitcoin, so positive funding can stay elevated for longer before it is arbitraged away.
Hourly venues react to these bursts quickest, while 8-hour venues smooth the premium over a longer window, so the same event can look different depending on the settlement interval.
When reading the table, look at both the level and the sign. If most venues are positive and one or two are negative, that often reflects a venue-specific quirk such as a different premium formula, a low-liquidity book or a different settlement interval rather than a genuine difference in sentiment.
Where XRP is listed
XRP is listed on the major centralised exchanges and on the leading on-chain order-book venues. Pool-based venues may list it with additional borrowing fees that are not part of funding.
LeverUp also lists XRP: its on-chain pool market charges a funding rate plus a per-side holding fee, so long and short costs differ. Trade XRP on LeverUp.
What to watch
What to watch: abrupt moves after legal or product headlines, and venues that diverge in sign while the rest of the table agrees. A narrow spread across many venues suggests a market priced efficiently; a wide one suggests uneven liquidity.
XRP funding rate FAQ
What is the current XRP funding rate?
At 2026-10-20T09:50:55.415Z UTC the median XRP funding rate across 9 venues is 0.0015% per 8 hours (1.6294% APR), ranging from -0.0016% on Bybit to 0.0100% on edgeX. Positive means longs pay shorts.
What moves XRP funding rates?
Headline-driven retail positioning, altcoin rotations and the level of leverage in the market; there is no large structural driver like ETF flows in Bitcoin.
Why do some venues show negative XRP funding while others are positive?
Different premium formulas, order-book depth and settlement intervals can make the same market look different, especially in quiet conditions when rates sit near zero.
How is XRP funding paid?
Between longs and shorts on each venue, not to the exchange. Positive means longs pay shorts at the venue's settlement interval.
