Funding Rate Heatmap

Every tracked coin against every venue in one grid. Spot the crowded side, the odd venue out, and jump to any coin's full page.

As of 2026-10-20 09:41 UTC, the matrix covers 47 assets across 11 venues (392 readings): 283 positive, 65 negative and 44 at zero, so 72% of cells had longs paying shorts. The median reading was 0.0073% per 8h.

Rates are per 8 hours, one value per venue (the median when a venue lists several contracts). The first 17 rows are the coins with their own page; the 30 rows after them are other assets listed on 6 or more venues. Scroll sideways on small screens; the coin column stays in place.

GMX (pool-skew funding, not comparable with order-book funding) and LeverUp markets routed to Hyperliquid are left out of the grid, as on the coin pages. Closed markets (weekend gold, FX and index perps) are skipped for a venue, and a row where every market is closed is shown in italics with its last known rates.

How to read the funding rate heatmap

Read across a row to compare venues for one coin. A row that is mostly light red with one dark green cell means one venue's shorts are being paid while everywhere else longs pay. That outlier is where cross-venue strategies look, and the funding rate arbitrage scanner ranks those gaps with the long and short venue named.

Read down a column to see one venue's stance across coins. A column that is red for every coin suggests that venue's traders are long-biased broadly, not just on one asset; a venue whose column is pale shows rates near zero. Market-wide moves tend to tint whole rows or columns, while a single dark cell usually points to something specific to that coin on that venue.

Read the numbers, not only the colors. Shading helps you scan, but every cell carries the rate itself and a tooltip with the sign convention. Shades step up at 0.005%, 0.01% and 0.03% per 8h; these are fixed display buckets, not statistical thresholds.

What the grid does not show

It is a snapshot, not a trend: a single reading can be an outlier that vanishes by the next settlement. It also hides settlement intervals (a 1h venue and an 8h venue are shown on the same 8h scale), mark prices and open interest. Open a coin page for the interval, next-funding time, mark price, a funding cost example and a 7-day history. Method details are on the methodology page.

Funding rate heatmap FAQ

What is a funding rate heatmap?

A grid with one row per coin and one column per venue, each cell showing that venue's perpetual funding rate for the coin, shaded by size and sign. It lets you see at a glance which exchanges are crowded long, which are crowded short, and where a coin's funding is out of line with the rest.

What do the colors mean on this heatmap?

Red shades are positive 8h rates (longs pay shorts), green shades are negative (shorts pay longs), and darker means a larger absolute rate. The number is printed in every cell, so the color is never the only signal.

Why are some cells empty?

A dash means the venue does not list that coin in our data, or its market is closed for that venue. Cells are not filled with zero, because zero would look like a real reading.

Are rates with different funding intervals comparable?

Yes after normalization. Each venue's rate is divided by its own settlement interval to an hourly rate, then shown as the 8h equivalent. The cash still moves on each venue's own schedule, which the coin pages show in an Interval column.

How often does the heatmap update?

The underlying snapshot is rebuilt every 10 minutes from public venue endpoints; the Last updated stamp at the bottom gives the exact time of the data on this page.
