HYPE Funding Rate Today

The HYPE token is the native asset of the Hyperliquid exchange, so its perp funding is tied closely to that venue's own activity and token economics.

Statistics use one value per venue (the median if a venue lists several contracts), skip closed markets, GMX (pool-skew funding with a separate borrowing fee) and LeverUp markets routed to Hyperliquid (they would double count Hyperliquid). Every row is still shown in the table below.

What does HYPE funding cost?

Worked example for a $10,000 long held for 1 day and 7 days, using each rate from the table above as if it stayed constant (it will not). Funding is charged on notional, not margin.

Scenario8h rate1 day7 days
Median (7 venues)0.0086%$2.57 paid$18.02 paid
Highest: Hyperliquid0.0100%$3.00 paid$21.00 paid
Lowest: dYdX0.0000%$0.00$0.00

Cross-venue spread idea

In principle a trader could go long where funding is lowest (dYdX) and short where it is highest (Hyperliquid) and collect the difference. At the current rates, $10,000 on each side would be a net $3.00 received per day before costs.

Caveat: this is an illustration, not advice. Real results depend on trading fees, price basis between the two contracts, different settlement intervals (a rate can change before you are paid), margin on both venues, liquidation risk on either leg, and funding changing sign. The funding rate arbitrage scanner ranks these gaps across every asset and explains the risks.

What drives HYPE funding rates

HYPE is the native token of the Hyperliquid chain and exchange. That creates an unusual feedback loop: HYPE perps trade on the same venue whose volume and fees drive demand for the token, so funding responds to the venue's overall growth, new market launches and community sentiment. When Hyperliquid activity surges, leveraged longs in HYPE often follow and funding rises.

Token economics matter for positioning. The protocol directs a large share of trading fees toward buying HYPE, which many holders treat as structural demand, while scheduled token unlocks and emissions are watched as potential supply. Traders position around these events, sometimes producing visible funding shifts in the days before them.

Hyperliquid itself settles funding hourly, and it was the first large venue to list HYPE perps, with centralised and other on-chain venues adding contracts later. Newer listings on other venues usually have thinner books, so their funding may deviate from Hyperliquid's. Because Hyperliquid is where price discovery happens, other venues often converge toward its rate over time.

For traders comparing venues, the spread between Hyperliquid and the others is the interesting number: persistent differences can reflect liquidity, formula and interval differences rather than a durable arbitrage. For more on how the venue calculates funding and its HIP-3 markets, see the Hyperliquid page.

Where HYPE is listed

HYPE is listed on Hyperliquid and a growing number of centralised exchanges and other on-chain order-book venues. Coverage is lower than for Bitcoin or Ether, so check the venue count before relying on the summary.

What to watch

What to watch: the gap between Hyperliquid and the other venues, funding changes around fee announcements or unlock dates, and the venue count, which is lower than for the majors. A thin listing elsewhere can distort the median.

HYPE funding rate FAQ

What is the current HYPE funding rate?

At 2026-10-20T09:30:59.591Z UTC the median HYPE funding rate across 7 venues is 0.0086% per 8 hours (9.3973% APR), ranging from 0.0000% on dYdX to 0.0100% on Hyperliquid. Positive means longs pay shorts.

Why is HYPE funding linked to Hyperliquid itself?

HYPE is the venue's native token, so its perp positioning follows the exchange's growth, fee generation and community sentiment.

How often does HYPE pay funding?

Hourly on Hyperliquid. Other venues use their own intervals, which the table shows and the 8h and APR columns normalise.

Do token unlocks affect HYPE funding?

Traders often position ahead of scheduled unlocks or emissions, which can shift directional leverage and therefore funding.
